Saturday Six

It was one of those looooong weeks where it felt like we might just not make it to Saturday. Here’s what helped keep us sane this week.

1. We are FIVE days away from our #momsquadcruise2018 and each minute feels like an hour. I’m basically packed and ready to go. Which leaves me with nothing left to shop for the trip. So I thought about family vacations and summer and swim and I fell down the rabbit hole of little girl bathing suits. So they are SET with ruffles and polka dots and this adorable owl suit – OH MY! If you see any bathing suits my kids need, drop a link 😉

2. Sometimes when things seem at their worst, Christine goes against her natural inclination (read: tv forever). This week she took all the kids to the California Science Center. What’s your favorite museum to take the kids to?

3. After a few days of taking care of three kids AND a sick Daddy, Christine snuck out for $1 Bahama Mamas at Applebee’s, our new hot spot for cheap drinks and awkward conversations with bartenders. Which begs the question: where’s our sponsorship yo? I mean, “The Salty Mamas – brought to you by Applebee’s” has a nice ring to it. Call us Applebee’s!

4. While we may have differing opinions on the Olympics (one of us watches 18 hours a day and the other is like “what are you doing with your life????”) we can both agree on Celebrity Big Brother. Both The Salty Mama’s are BIG fans of Big Brother, so add in a Real Housewife and we are happy forever. Anyone else watching?? Who are you rooting for to win???

5. This may not be popular, but we are both REALLY happy we’re not pumping anymore. That may have pushed us over the edge this week. But Jaymi spent a bunch of time as a busy, pumping, working Mama. One of her tips made it into this awesome post from This Mom Life. Check it out!

6. Let’s face it. This:

Having something to look forward to is NO JOKE. Do it.

The Olympics have kicked off and Christine’s family is ALL about it! So here are the six things we’d give our Gold Medals to this week!

  1. We hate saying we have a favorite kid, but sometimes you can prove it based on things like how long they sleep or which one’s being moderately rational that day. And sometimes they do something so incredibly sweet. Like when Cole kept stalling like he didn’t really want to finish reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. (Which is ridiculous, because when we finish we get to go to Universal Studios!) But the truth is that he was okay with that book being over, but he didn’t want the snuggling in Mommy’s bed for some quality time with a good book to be over. Lucky for you little man, there’s a whole world of books for us to work through! But we’ll start with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for now.

2. We may be The Salty Mamas, but we can admit that we’re equally into sweets. So we give a gold medal to these Chocolate Fruit Cups from the Peachee Pear. You’ll want to check out this adorably easy and beautiful dessert – and probably make it this week. Bonus points: It’s so easy even your kids can help!

3. We’ve been doing a LOT of online shopping for bathing suits for the cruise, and while we found some super cute ones (like this one and this one and this one) Christine can’t help but have this one be her favorite. Because it literally makes her laugh every time. And we take the use of the word “literally” very seriously.

4. The Daddy’s are working crazy long hours right now and Christine and Jaymi are sucking it up like champs counting down the hours every night until The Salties are asleep so we can drink budget Moscato and PM each other for company. So we have a lot of time on our hands to reflect on what we miss about life before kids. Thankfully, we don’t need to detail it because someone else took care of it for us. ShesthehonestMom so you know she’s keeping it real with this list of 10 things she misses about her pre-baby life!

5. There are prescriptions for EVERYTHING, so Christine and Jaymi were thinking there should be a pill to cure chronic grumpiness. We’ll take two, thanks.

6. And finally, in the spirit of the Olympics, this cautionary tale: If your husband is on a ski trip during the Olympics and your son knows that there’s skiing IN the Olympics, he may go around telling everyone that his Dad is skiing in the Olympics. So be warned.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the Olympics!
