How to Pack for the Pool with Kids

Everything you need for the ULTIMATE pool day with kids, from The Salty Mamas

Heading to the pool with your kids this summer? It seems like too much to remember, but once you get down what to pack in a summer pool bag with kids, it’s a piece of cake. Read on for full instructions on how to pack for the pool with kids!

It’s that time. The weather is warming up, the beach is calling and the community pools are opening. My kids spent the last seven months staring wistfully at our pool knowing it was way too cold to enjoy. Now they run to the gate excited every afternoon to get jump in. But a day at the pool with kids isn’t as simple as just jumping in!

When we bought a house with a pool, I pictured casual afternoons spent by the pool watching my happy children swim. I didn’t think about how to pack for the pool with kids.

Over the years I’ve gotten it down to a pretty good system, but if this is your first (or second, or seventh) summer spent at the beach or the pool and you feel like you still don’t have it all down yet, don’t worry. The Salty Mamas have got you – and your kids – covered with exactly what to pack in your summer pool bag.

Pool Days need SO much more than swimsuits and towels. Luckily The Salty Mamas have you covered with this list of everything you need for a fun and successful day by the pool! #poolday #swimday #swimsuit #toddlerswimsuit #swimdiapers #bestswimdiapers #bestgogglesforkids #stayhydrated #pooltime #summertime #pooldayfun #funaththepool #bestfloatiesforkids #bestpooltoysforkids #beachday #bestsunscreenforkids #summertimefun #summertimevibes #schoolsoutforsummer #summerwithkids #toddlersummer #babysummer #babyswim

How To Be a Better Mom in 10 Easy Steps

a mom looking for signs that she's a good mom

Momguilt has become a hallmark of modern motherhood. But if you’re wondering how to know if you’re a good mom- and how to be a better mom- we want you to know, in no uncertain terms- you.are.enough.

First of all, let us be clear- YOU ROCK ALREADY.  Your kids don’t care whether you made homemade brownies for the bake sale or whether you spent 1,110 hours creating cut-out dinosaurs on the Cricut for their birthday party.  You keep your kids fed. You keep your kids safe. You kiss them and hug them and love them and sometimes they eat candy and sometimes they eat kale and THAT IS ENOUGH.

So if you’re asking yourself how to be a better mom, lady, we’ve got news for you- you are the best mom your kids could ever have. Period.

We asked a lot of amazing mommies just like you to tell us about the mothers in their lives- their mamas, their friends, their kids’ aunties and the random mommies they pass in Target who are keeping their cool while their child goes feral.

And we were so, so happy to see that it isn’t always the BIG things that are the signs of a good mom. It’s the little things, done sweetly (or even begrudgingly!), on a regular basis that shows your kids that you are there for them.  And if your kids don’t notice it? Well, WE notice it, and odds are, the other people in your life do, too.

So keep on keeping on, Mama. Stop wondering how to be a better mom, and start embracing the kind of mom you already are. You are doing an AMAZING job. Here are ten ways that you are probably rocking this #momlife without even knowing it. a mom looking for signs that she's a good mom

Love Letters to Our Kids Favorite Cartoons

Screen time may be taboo, but we can't help but love these shows that buy us a few minutes to get stuff done! #screentime #screenfreechildhood #kidscartoons #bestkidscartoons #favoritekidscartoons #bestcartoonsfortoddlers #bestcartoonsforkids #muppetbabies #pawpatrol #powerrangers #kidstv #dinosaurtrain #peppapig #momsagainstcaillou #teamumizoomi #disneyjr #nickjr #bestkidstelevision

So screen time may be taboo, and the ultimate sign of a terrible parent is leaning too much on the friends that live inside the television. But sometimes Mommy just needs a little help. There is still laundry to do, dishes to wash, and watching a little TV makes way less mess than Play Doh does. So the Salty Mamas make zero apologies about sprinkling in a little (or some days a lot) of screen time here and there. Which is how our kids favorite cartoons, become our favorite cartoons.

We’d like to take this moment to publicly thank some of the cartoons that have helped us get through these past five years.

Between the two of us, the Salty Mamas have breastfed 5 out of 6 kids. But if you lined all 6 of them up, you’d never be able to pick out the one that was Team Bottle.

Despite all the warnings I received about the myriad things my child would miss out on if I “gave up” on breastfeeding, my firstborn seems to be doing just fine. Which isn’t to say that I wasn’t absolutely terrified of what I now know are breastfeeding myths.

Cole and I are proof positive that you can survive – and thrive – on bottles and formula. Here are some of the myths about breastfeeding that I am thrilled to debunk for you.
