Need help getting your busy life organized? If you’re juggling kids, a partner, and a career, consider setting up an easy working mom family command center to get everyone on the same page!

You’ve been there. You have one too many things on your plate as a working mom, and the guggling just isn’t working for you anymore. A ball is going to drop- you know it’s coming- but it feels like there’s nothing you can do to stop it.

One frantic night, I was switching through calendars, emails, and to-do list apps trying to remember what my son needed to bring to the Flag Ceremony volunteer thank-you breakfast at school (which, honest to god, is a real thing. Working mom organization ain’t for sissies).

I turned to my husband and told him that I was nearing a nervous breakdown. I explained that just trying to stay organized as a working mom with all of the STUFF that keeps our family running was taking its toll and making me seriously anxious.

Frustrated woman with head in hands on a couch with clothes and toys spread around.

His infuriatingly logical response was “Why don’t you write it on a calendar?” I blinked, stunned. “What, like on paper?” I asked. I’ve seen so many working mom organization tips featuring apps and electronics, so going back to paper-and-pencil seemed like a giant step backward.

But the more I thought about it, the more sense it made. At work I have my giant desk calendar, my notepads full of lists, post-its stuck to every visible surface. Why couldn’t I do the same at home? And with further thought, I realized that the other thing I needed was for my family to start taking responsibility for some of their own mental load and lessening the burden on me to be the keeper of all the information.

And so I started what I know now is the ultimate in working mom organization tips- the “working mom command center.”

Toys don’t always entertain him, and he’s old enough to prefer items to play with over clothes. And frankly, we have limited space at home to store all those gadgets and gizmos galore.

So what kind of presents should you get for a boy’s third birthday? Especially for a very busy little boy? I can tell you that with all the toys we’ve had and loved, these are- by far- the best gifts for three year old boys you can get to help celebrate a birthday or holiday.

Things I Want You to Know About My Strong Willed Daughter

Having a strong-willed daughter can be challenging, but it is also a huge blessing. Here's what I wish people knew about raising "stubborn" girls- from TheSaltyMamas.com. #strongwilledgirls #shepersisted #momlife #adviceformoms #parenting #parentingadvice

I am the mother of a strong-willed daughter. The proud, frustrated, and exhausted mother, if I’m being honest, but that little girl? She is my heart.

My daughter is brave and kind and resourceful. She is ferocious and stubborn and unmovable. She is smart and funny and loyal. She is hard.

It is possible for her to be all those things at once, and I love each little part of her.

For me, the struggle comes when her strong-willed nature comes out in public. I see the stares, the clucking tongues, and I hear the non-stop advice about how to get her to “behave.”

But as the quote by Eleanor Roosevelt goes, well-behaved women seldom make history.

So if you see me out in the world with my strong-willed daughter, I don’t expect you to understand. I don’t expect you to know what our lives are like on a day to day basis. And I’m not going to give you a lecture on it when you correct us in a Chick-fil-A playplace.

But here’s what I wish you knew about my strong-willed daughter.

It’s raining here. Again. And as Southern California Mamas, we are the first to admit that we are NOT used to it. Like, we barely own umbrellas kind of not used to it. So at the first sign of a sprinkle we’re making sure the kids actually have jackets and are scrambling to try to keep the family dry. As usual, we thought about ourselves last. We had no idea how to survive a rainy day inside with kids. So here are some thing that help us get through our day trapped inside!
